SEO for Electricians
Anyone can rank for "electrician near me" eventually. The money is in ranking for rewires, EICRs and EV charger installs.
Most electricians take whatever the phone brings, which means a diary full of light fittings and consumer unit swaps. SEO for electricians is how you choose the work instead: a page per job type, a profile that holds the map pack, and content aimed at the customers with the bigger budgets.
Why electrical SEO rewards specificity
Electrical work spans a fifty pound callout and a fifteen thousand pound commercial fit-out. Generic ranking gets you the former.
The map pack decides the emergency call
Fault finding and "emergency electrician" searches end in a tap on one of three map results. If your Google Business Profile is thin or miscategorised, you are not in that decision at all.
High value jobs are searched differently
Someone pricing a full rewire, an EICR for a rental, or an EV charger installation researches for days and compares properly. Those searches reward a detailed page, not a service list bullet.
EV charger installation is a live opportunity
Charger installs are a growing, well-paid and specific search, and most local electricians have no dedicated page for it despite being fully qualified to do the work. It is one of the clearest gaps we see in the trade.
Landlord and commercial work is a separate audience
Letting agents and facilities managers search on compliance terms, EICR, PAT testing, emergency lighting, fire alarm testing, and they buy on repeat. A domestic-only site never surfaces for them.
What we actually do for an electrical business
Five workstreams, run monthly, aimed at the jobs you want more of.
Google Business Profile, rebuilt properly
Correct category, every service listed individually including EV charging and EICRs, genuine job photos, service area set to what you can realistically reach, and the Q and A seeded with real questions.
A page per job type, priced by value
Rewires, consumer unit upgrades, EICRs, EV charger installation, fault finding, outdoor and garden power, commercial maintenance. Each with its own page, price guidance and enquiry route.
Qualification and scheme signals
NICEIC or NAPIT registration, Part P, insurance and guarantees presented as ranking-relevant trust signals rather than logos in the footer, plus the accreditation pages that support them.
Content aimed at the researcher
What a rewire costs in the UK, how long an EICR takes, what a C2 code means for a landlord, whether a home charger needs a dedicated circuit. These bring in the customers who have not chosen anyone yet.
Reviews on a system
Automatic requests after completed work, a response routine, and monthly velocity reporting so the profile keeps strengthening instead of stalling.
What electrical businesses get searched for
UK monthly search volumes, DataForSEO, August 2026. Like other trades, electricians search SEO terms far more than website terms.

Most electrical firms start on Local
One town and the surrounding area, the full job type set and the map pack. Local covers it. Firms chasing commercial contracts across a county want Regional. See Regional and National.

Someone about to spend five thousand pounds on a rewire behaves nothing like someone with a tripped socket. They read the page, check your registration, and compare three firms properly. The site has to hold up to that.

How long does SEO for electricians take?+
Google Business Profile work can shift map pack positions in two to six weeks. Job type pages for rewires, EICRs and charger installs usually take three to six months to settle. Commercial and landlord terms are slower but far more durable once they land.
Is it worth having a separate EV charger installation page?+
Yes, and it is one of the biggest easy wins in the trade. Charger installation is searched as its own thing, often alongside grant and tariff questions, and most local electricians who do the work have no page for it. A bullet in a services list will not rank for it.
Can I target landlords and letting agents specifically?+
Yes. EICRs, PAT testing and emergency lighting are compliance purchases with a repeat cycle, and they are searched in language a domestic-focused site never uses. That is a separate set of pages and it is worth building.
What does SEO for electricians cost?+
Local is £300 a month with no upfront build fee and covers one town and its surrounds. Regional is £1,500 a month for county-wide or commercial coverage. The website build is included, not billed separately.
I get all my work from word of mouth. Do I need this?+
Word of mouth brings you the jobs your existing customers happen to need. It does not let you choose more rewires and fewer callouts. If you are happy with the mix you have, you do not need us; if you want to change it, search is the lever.
Do you work outside Bristol?+
Yes. Built in Bristol, working with businesses across the South West and beyond.
